For moms like us, it’s often a struggle to get kids to eat and to snack healthy. In my case, nothing can get my temper racing more quickly than leftover greens on my kids’ plates. But rather than scold them into eating their fruits and vegetables, I find that being creative works much nicer.

One sneaky way I get my kids to eat their fruits and veggies is to
serve smoothies
. If you haven’t tried smoothies, then I recommend that you try it- today! It may be just what you and your kids need.

For those of you who are smoothie fans like myself, you can probably relate to me when I say that the main drawback of serving smoothies, at least for me, is that I tend to stick to what works. I find myself serving the same recipe over and over. After a while, the kids get tired of the same old flavor, and the enthusiasm for this healthy drink dips lower and lower.

You and I both know that variety is key to making a healthy habit stick. So imagine my joy when I came across this book called “Sensational Smoothies: Drink Your Way To Health Deliciously”. It’s a collection of over 180 smoothie recipes that makes use of a wide range of ingredients – from the more traditional fruits, to vegetables, chocolates, and even coffee and liqueur for the grown ups. Say good-bye to boring smoothie recipes, indeed!

I’ve already tried a couple of recipes, and had my 4-year-old help me blend the ingredients together. It was a lot of fun. And the best part of course is seeing my kids drink up the entire glass of cold, creamy smoothies without complaint. Smoothie drinking is a habit I really want my family to pick up, so this book will come in handy in giving me enough variety to sustain our interest.

You must be thinking, smoothie recipes are a dime a dozen on the internet. That’s true. But then, I don’t want to experiment on myself and my kids and end up spending good money on recipes that don’t really taste good (because the recipe writer did not bother to kitchen-test the recipes). This is probably the main thing that got me sold on the product – knowing that whichever recipe I choose, it will turn out into something that my family will enjoy.
